Using Salesforce Built-In Merge with Scan

For advanced merging, use Salesforce’s built-in merge feature.

(Users need to have read/write and delete access to Contact and Lead objects in order to merge records.)

Merging Leads – Salesforce Classic

-Make sure that duplicate rule criteria have   been set in Scanning Settings.

-Once duplicate has been identified, click to create duplicate (image).

-Open newly created lead.

-Click ‘Find Duplicates.’

-Select the leads you would like to merge (up to 3 at a time) by checking the checkbox next to each in the Matching Leads section.

-Click the Merge Leads button at the top of the Matching Leads section.

-Use the radio buttons to select the data to be saved after merge.

-Click ‘Merge.’

Merging Leads – Salesforce Lightning

(Active Duplicate Rule and Matching Rules must exist in org – Potential Duplicates Lightning Component must be added to Lightning Layout.)

-Make sure that duplicate rule criteria have been set in Scanning Settings.

-Once duplicate has been identified, click to create duplicate (image).

-Open newly created lead.

-Click ‘View Duplicates’ in Potential Duplicates Lightning Component.

-Select records to be merged, click ‘Next.’

-Use the radio buttons to select the data to be saved after merge.

-Click ‘Next.’

-Click ‘Merge Leads.’

Merging Contacts – Salesforce Classic

-Make sure that duplicate rule criteria have been set in Scanning Settings. 

-Once duplicate has been identified, click to create duplicate (image).

-Open account where duplicate contacts exist.

NOTE: If Merge Contacts button is not present, it must be added to page layout

-Select records to be merged, click ‘Next.’

-Use the radio buttons to select the data to be saved after merge.

-Click ‘Merge.’
